Used Porsche Macan: what to look at

The Macan is one of the models we get asked for most. This is the sheet we use ourselves to pick a car: generations, official recall campaigns and what changes the tax.

The codes and years come from the ADAC catalogue, because Porsche does not publish them. The electric car is a different machine: a new platform developed with Audi, an 800-volt architecture and production in Leipzig.

What changed at each facelift

At the 2018/19 one the 2.0 dropped to 180 kW (245 PS). At the 2021 one came the new front end, the touch-sensitive centre console in place of buttons, and this range: Macan 2.0 with 195 kW (265 PS), Macan S with a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 and 280 kW (380 PS), GTS with 324 kW (440 PS) and the Macan T, also a 2.0 but with Sport Chrono as standard. All with the seven-speed PDK.

It is repeated everywhere that the diesel disappeared from the Macan with that facelift. We have not found the Porsche release that says so, so we leave it as what it is: something we believe to be true and have not been able to prove.

Recall campaigns: what the official register says

The KBA register holds twelve campaigns reaching the Macan. These are the weightiest, by size or by seriousness:

KBA ref.YearBuildWhat was wrongCars

15377R202506-2024 → 06-2025Side airbag with reduced protection. Falls within the recent Macan Electric—
How to read these tables. The German KBA register records the campaigns it knows about, and warns that as a rule not every car of the type is actually affected: the build period is a coarse filter. What counts is the check by chassis number at the dealer, which is what we do before buying. The affected-car figures are the register's own, as consulted in September 2026.

On the recurring faults that circulate on forums (oil leaks, PDK, water pumps) we say nothing: we have found no serious technical source that quantifies them, and we would rather keep quiet than repeat rumours. We explain how campaigns are checked.

The equipment that really changes the car

The Macan Electric, in figures

A 100 kWh gross battery, of which up to 95 can be used, an 800-volt architecture and charging at up to 270 kW: 10 to 80 % in about 21 minutes. On a 400 V charger it reaches 135 kW without needing a high-voltage booster. On AC, up to 11 kW.

WLTP ranges published by Porsche: up to 613 km for the Macan 4, up to 591 km for the Turbo and up to 586 km for the GTS, which was unveiled in October 2025 with 420 kW of overboost power and reached dealers in February 2026. The battery warranty is 8 years or 160,000 km from first registration.

What it pays in the Balearics

VersionWLTP CO₂Band in the Balearics
Macan 2.0 (2021)243–228 g/km16 %
Macan S (2021)265–251 g/km16 %
Macan GTS (2021)265–255 g/km16 %
Macan Electric0 g/km0 %

This is the biggest difference on the whole sheet: between a petrol Macan and an electric one, the tax goes from the top band to nothing. Work yours out with the registration tax calculator.

For the Macan T we give no figure: it does not appear in the Porsche release and it has to be read off the individual car's certificate. Being the same 2.0, the top band is what you would expect, but that is our own expectation. We have not located the official sheet for the CO₂ of the 2014–2021 generations either.

A useful detail if you are going to work out the tax: the Spanish tax office's 2026 valuation table contains no Porsche with a start year later than 2021, so the electric Macans are not in it. In that case the value is determined another way, as we explain in this article.

Which Macan can I buy used today?

On combustion, the 95B up to 2024 in its three phases; and from 2024, the electric one on the PPE platform.

What recall campaigns does it have?

The German register holds twelve. The largest is from 2020, for possible fuel loss with a fire risk, reaching 288,528 cars built between 2014 and 2019. There is another from 2025, on a side airbag, which falls within the recent Macan Electric. They are checked by chassis number.

What registration tax does it pay in the Balearics?

The petrol versions are above 200 g/km, so they go to 16 %. The electric one pays 0 %.

What warranty does the Macan Electric battery have?

Eight years or 160,000 km from first registration, according to Porsche, which also guarantees a minimum remaining capacity.
