The first confusion when you ask for a quote is mixing everything together. Some items have their amount set in a regulation and you can check them in two clicks; others depend on the supplier and on the car. Here they are, separated.
| Item | Amount | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic authority fee for registering | €99.77 | DGT fee 1.1 |
| Registration tax | 0 %, 4.75 %, 9.75 % or 16 % depending on CO₂ | Ley 38/1992 (the Spanish excise duties act) and Balearic Legislative Decree 1/2014 |
| ITV roadworthiness test before registering (Eivissa and Formentera) | €85 | ITV fiscal bylaws: Eivissa (BOIB 106, 25-8-2026) and Formentera (BOIB 42, 22-3-2012) |

| Entry in Formentera (June and September) | €6/day, minimum €30 | Fiscal bylaw |
| Entry in Formentera (July and August) | €9/day, minimum €45 | Fiscal bylaw |
| Annual road tax (IVTM) | Set by your town hall | Municipal bylaw · tables for Palma, Eivissa, Maó and Formentera |
Customs duties: none. Germany and Spain are both in the European Union, so there are no customs duties. And in most cases there is no Spanish VAT either: if you buy as a private individual a car that is used for VAT purposes, the tax stays in Germany. We explain it in full in is there VAT on a used car imported from Germany?.
We are intermediaries: you pay the official dealer, the transport company and the filing agent directly, and we hand over the contacts and coordinate it. The price we quote you for each car has the vehicle inside it, plus transport to your island, the ITV test, the registration and our service. Separately come the registration tax — which depends on CO₂ and which you can work out yourself with our registration tax calculator — and your town hall's annual road tax. You have the detail in the terms of service.
Both islands limit vehicle entry, under laws of their own. In Eivissa the law does not fix the dates: they are approved by the full council, annually or every two years. The resolution in force sets them from 1 June to 30 September. The rules are Ley 5/2024 in Eivissa and Ley 7/2019 in Formentera (there is no "Ley 5/2022" on this, whatever you may read elsewhere). Goods transport vehicles fall outside the limit in Eivissa and do not pay the charge in Formentera. What is not settled in any rule is what happens with a freshly imported car that is not yet registered or domiciled on the island: we have not found a published criterion, so in season we arrange it by checking with the consell first.
It is €99.77: DGT fee 1.1, the one for issuing the vehicle registration document. Fee 1.5 (€55.70) is something else, the change of ownership.
No. Fees are unregulated: since Ley 25/2009, which added article 14 to Ley 2/1974, professional associations may not publish indicative fee scales. Each gestoría sets its own price.
Eivissa and Formentera publish €85 in their fiscal bylaws. The Consell de Mallorca does not publish the amount for that inspection and we have not been able to check the Menorca one: there you have to ask at the test station.
No, not if the vehicle is tax-domiciled in Eivissa. Residents of Mallorca, Menorca or Formentera get a 100 % reduction for private use.
Every source was checked on 25 September 2026. Tax rules change: if you are reading this much later, confirm it or ask us.
